The New York City Marathon is an annual 26.2-mile (42.2 km) race that courses through the five boroughs of New York City. It is the largest marathon in the world, with over 50,000 finishers in 2016. The event is organized by New York Road Runners and has been held every year since 1970.
Today, the NYRR has more than 60,000 members and hosts more than 150 running events each year, including the world-famous New York City Marathon.
